# What is the difference between User Management and Access Management?

The **user management** of your organization is **not** the same as the **accessible portfolios** you see on your dashboard.

* In the **user management** of an organization, you see all Reconcept users who have a role in the organization. Based on the role in the organization, they can gain access to a portfolio with the associated permissions and insights that come with the role. Access to a portfolio is in the hands of the portfolio owner.
* On your **dashboard**, you see all the portfolios to which **you** have access. Access to a portfolio is in the hands of the portfolio owner. You see all users on your dashboard who have **personally** granted you access to the portfolio.
