Why does a user sometimes have multiple roles?
Sometimes it happens that a user in user management has multiple roles listed behind their name. For example, Staff Member, Educator. This can occur if multiple types of portfolios are in use within your organization (department), for example, for both Internal Medicine and Pulmonology. In the system, users can have different roles for different types of portfolios. This role does not determine the type of portfolio the user has themselves, but how others see them within a type of portfolio and what access they can grant. If you want to change a user's role, ensure that the role is correctly changed for all types of portfolios.
