Roles and permissions in Reconcept

Reconcept uses a system of roles and permissions to ensure that every user has the appropriate access to information and functionalities. In this article, we explain the basics of how these different roles within the organization and the individual portfolios work together.

Organization roles and portfolio roles

In Reconcept, we distinguish between organization roles and portfolio roles. The role a person has within an organization or department is recorded in user management. This organization role does not directly determine which portfolios someone can access, but it serves as a blueprint for the permissions a user can receive within a portfolio.

Granting access to the portfolio

The owner of a portfolio grants individuals access to their portfolio. When this access is granted, the person receives the permissions associated with their established organization role. If someone has multiple organization roles, such as Staff Member and Internship Supervisor, the portfolio owner can choose which role is relevant at that time. Additionally, the portfolio owner can always choose to give someone more access if desired.

Checking your own roles

If it seems like you do not have access to a specific portfolio, you can check this under My Roles in your account settings. Here you can see exactly which organization roles are linked to your account and which individual portfolios you currently have a portfolio role for.

Administrator roles

In addition to the roles for viewing portfolios, there are administrator roles. An administrator role allows for tasks such as user management. These roles are separate from the other roles in the system. It is possible for a user to have both an organization role and an administrator role, thus combining these responsibilities.
